Tailoring

Nkuze Youth Foundation continues to invest in young people skill development. This year, the foundation started sponsoring girls to study a 2 year tailoring course.

The particular course is a section of fashion and design. It equips the girls with tailoring knowledge and skills which include:-
  • Practical tailoring skills
  • Tailoring machinery operation skills
  • Garment measurements
  • Garment development from scratch
  • How to use a diverse range of textiles and fabrics to create exceptional styles of garments for both local and export.

What these girls learn is not just the ability to make clothes, but relevant knowledge that is crucial is making a meaningful fashion and design career. They also learn about personal growth, confidence, and community change agents.

Most importantly going through the tailoring course has given the young girls hope for a future they never thought they would have. It has given them a chance to dream of life outside poverty, a life of livelihood growth and stability. Even before they complete the course they are excited about the amazing possibilities they will get to venture in, in life.

Together with Boundless Minds, the girls will also get training in numerous soft skills including business management, e-commerce business, and local and international customer services among other things. The girls will learn this after they complete the 2 years at the tailoring institute.

To keep these girls at the tailoring institute costs one million Uganda shillings a term. At Nkuze we are committed to sponsoring as many girls as we can because we believe in what they can be and want to be the bridge between them and their future.

To keep these girls at the tailoring institute costs one million Uganda shillings ($280) a term. At Nkuze we are committed to sponsoring as many girls as we can because we believe in what they can be and want to be the bridge between them and their future.

However because of the huge cost, we can not achieve our vision as we wish to; we need more people on board to make this a reality. We need more sponsors to fund the tailoring courses for these girls.

You can be that sponsor, come on board today.
