Our Story

On his visit to Kayabwe town in 2006, Habeeb took a keen interest in a team of kids 7 – 10 years who were playing football in some grounds near the Equator line. He was greatly intrigued by the passion, zeal and authenticity with which the kids played the sport and decided to interact with them, learning a bit about them and cheering them on in this particular game.

Habeeb did not see these kids again until 10 years later when he returned to Kayabwe Town and found these kids already morphing into young adults but still playing football now in a team called Equator FC. This really impressed him and he decided to rally support for them to get jerseys, soccer boots, and playing kits among other things. As he continued to support the team through several local tournaments, he became acquainted with most of the young men learning about their stories, dreams and life challenges.

Habeeb then decided to help some of the young men through their life challenges by giving them hand-outs in hopes that this would possibly make their lives better. However as Habeeb continued to give a helping hand, he realised the hand-outs he was giving were not solving the problem he hoped he was tackling; and the problem was actually bigger and deeper than what he had seen or heard.
The problem was and still is that most young people in Kayabwe (male and female) are not aware of or have not discovered their potential; and they do not have the right knowledge and skills to help them grow and develop their lives.

It is this need that led to birth of the NKUZE YOUTH FOUNDATION with the main aim of facilitating growth and development among young people in Kayabwe town and beyond.

Kayabwe Town

Kayabwe town is located in Mpigi district along Masaka road about 81 kilometres from Uganda’s capital Kampala. The town is famously known for the equator line that passes right in the middle of the town and is a top pit stop for tourists travelling to western Uganda.
