We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.
I don’t know about you but this season feels so surreal! Being able to enjoy July 4th outdoors, with friends and family is simply amazing. Whoa! I am so glad that even as we continue to fight the pandemic, life is getting back to normal in the USA.
In Uganda, however the country is battling a second wave of covid-19 that has affected so many people. The country is currently in a 42 day lockdown to help curb the spread of the disease and save lives. I ask that you keep the people of Uganda in your thoughts.
For the foundation the first half of the year has been great. Our Beneficiaries have achieved some milestones in their growth journey; one acquired a commercial driver’s licence and has since joined the transportation business in Kayabwe; the other graduated with a Diploma in Computer Science from Nkozi University – we are very hopeful he will soon find employment.
Our greatest highlight though has been the Youth Development Workshop we had in kayabwe town, Mpigi district on the 29th of May 2021. The workshop was themed personal and business development and it tackled several aspects of growth in those areas.
We partnered with Benjamin Rukwengye from boundless-minds.org, Ronnie Habasa and Shadrach Kuteesa who facilitated the workshop sessions. The sessions focused on issues like harnessing potential, utilising skills and building self-supporting businesses. The workshop also provided a good space for the young people to interact and share their challenges, opinions, thoughts, ideas and experiences.
The young people said they benefited from this workshop and that they needed more of these programs to help them have efficient and effective growth in their lives.
It’s our hope that we can continue to provide opportunities and platforms where they can learn and be challenged to initiate, create and explore several growth opportunities. We are now doing more of these workshops and other programs that will inspire growth and development among the youth.
